Phase 2 of the Ellershouse wind farm in Nova Scotia has come online bringing the project’s total capacity to 16.1MW.
Minas Energy developed the wind farm, which is owned and operated by Alternative Resource Energy Authority (AREA).
AREA is a partnership between the towns of Antigonish, Berwick and Mahone Bay in Nova Scotia and was created to reduce energy costs, expand green mandates and develop new revenue streams for the municipalities.
The second phase adds three Enercon E-92 turbines to the original four-turbine wind farm in West Hants, near Ellershouse.
Bullfrog Power helped finance the project and will supply electricity generated from Ellershouse to its customers, which include East Coast Credit Union.
