DeepOcean has won a contract from Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke for export cable transportation, installation and trenching services at the 396MW Merkur offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.
The contract will cover marine works associated with the transportation, installation and burial of the HVAC cables from the DolWin gamma converter platform towards the Merkur offshore substation.
It also includes a burial assessment study, route surveys, route engineering, pre lay grapnel runs, installation of cable protection systems and pre/post-lay crossing protection works.
The work is scheduled to be carried out in 2018 by DeepOcean’s in-house fleet of offshore installation and trenching vessels.
Merkur will consist of 66 Haliade 150-6MW machines and is scheduled to connect to the DolWin Gamma grid hub in August 2018.
TenneT has contracted Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke to establish the grid connection between the Merkur offshore substation and the DolWin Gamma converter platform.
