Dutch manufacturer Lagerwey has supplied first power to the grid from a 4.5MW wind turbine in Groningen province in the Netherlands.
The turbine, which has a 136-metre rotor, is located near the port of Eemshaven and is the highest in the country, the company said.
Lagerwey will start construction after the summer of a second identical model at Eemshaven.
Construction of the new turbine will see the company use its new climbing crane, which Lagerwey said enables faster and cheaper installation of turbines.
