An affiliate of independent energy company Tenaska has signed a long-term power purchase agreement with Minnesota Power for electricity from the 250MW Nobles 2 wind farm in southwest Minnesota.
The $400m project, which is located near Wilmont in Nobles County, is currently under development and is expected to be operational in December 2019.
It is expected to consist of 125 turbines, with Vestas the anticipated supplier and maintenance provider.
Construction is expected to start in the second half of 2018.
About 230 jobs will be created during peak construction and up to 20 full-time jobs once operational.
Nobles 2 will interconnect to the Midcontinent Independent System Operator regional transmission system.
Tenaska strategic development and acquisitions group vice president Joel Link said: “We are pleased to be working with Minnesota Power to bring more renewable generation to the region.”
