Germany’s Recase Regenerative Energien has tested Aerodyn Energiesysteme’s two-bladed SCD 3MW turbine, ahead of its slated deployment to waters off the Japanese coast in the summer of 2018.
The turbine prototype was developed on behalf of the Japanese government and will be studied further on a floating foundation in the Kitakyushu test field in the country’s south.
Recase provided electro-technical design support and early prototype testing onshore.
“Measurement campaigns, which would require several months if we needed to perform them on the field, can be performed quickly and sometimes within two hours,” Recase project engineer Jörg Zeumer said.
