Deutsche Windtechnik has secured a major service contract for 61 Siemens 2.3MW turbines across two Scottish wind farms.
The German company has signed an agreement with asset owner Zephyr for the Causeymire and Farr projects, both developed by Innogy in the Highlands.
The five-year deal kicks off in June and covers full maintenance including large components.
Windtechnik, which has its main Scottish office in Edinburgh, is now contracted to provide O&M for a total of 168 turbines across the country. Across Europe, the total is more than 2900.
Zephyr managing director Huw Griffiths said: “We have been impressed with the capabilities Windtechnik have developed in the UK and a willingness to work with their customers to help drive the operational performance of the wind farms.”
Windtechnik managing director Billy Stevenson said the deal “gives a signal to the UK wind energy market that there is a real alternative to service offered by the manufacturer”.
He added: “The service market is changing and becoming more open, and this will benefit all players in the market.”
