Floatgen’s floating platform is currently being put together at the harbour and will feature a 2MW Vestas V80 turbine.
The device is scheduled to be completed onshore in September and installed at the test site before the end of this year.
The Floatgen consortium also includes ECN, Germany’s University of Stuttgart, consultancies Zabala and RSK, and German research institute Fraunhofer IWES.
