Apple has agreed a 200MW power purchase agreement (PPA) for electricity from the Montague wind farm in Oregon for its Prineville data center.
The wind farm, which the company said is the “first Apple-created wind project”, is scheduled to come online by the end of 2018.
The data center will also receive electricity from the 56MW Solar Star Oregon 2 photovoltaic project, which is expected to be operational by the end of the year.
Apple has also executed a long-term purchase agreement with Cypress Greek Renewables for all the “environmental attributes” from six solar farms in the US state totalling 50MW.
Two micro hydro projects will also provide additional electricity for the Prineville facility, Apple said.
