Italian cable supplier Prysmian Group has started manufacturing 33kV and 66kV submarine cable cores for the offshore wind market from a production facility in Wrexham.
The submarine cores are used in inter-array cable connections, facilitating the collection of power and its transmission to the onshore grid.
The Wrexham facility is the only factory in the UK capable of manufacturing these specific cable cores, the company said.
