Alterra Power has acquired the 320MW Boswell Springs wind complex in Wyoming.
The Canadian company bought the portfolio of projects in Albany County from Colorado developer Intermountain Wind, it said.
The wind farms are expected to start operating in 2020, selling their entire output under a 20-year power purchase agreements with Rocky Mountain Power, a unit of PacifiCorp.
Alterra started building the projects’ main power transformers in 2016, it said.
The company expects Boswell Springs to qualify for US renewable electricity production tax credits (PTCs) at the full rate.
“We’re pleased to complete this next major step in our growth plans, culminating over a year of cooperation with the original developer, Intermountain Wind,” Alterra vice-president of project development Paul Rapp said.
“This acquisition further establishes our US growth trajectory and the realization of our wind project PTC qualification plans.”
