France has provisionally set the feed-in tariff for floating offshore wind at €240 per megawatt hour for the country’s first four 24MW installations.
The government has issued draft legislation that will go before the Higher Energy Council for consideration next week. The proposal will also need sign-off by energy watchdog CRE.
Projects in line for the payments include EDF EN’s Provence Grand Large, which will feature three Siemens 8MW turbines. The wind farm will be installed at the Faraman site located 15km off the coast.
The floating wind farm Eolien Flottant Golfe du Lyon, situated 13km off the zone at the Leucate zone, is being developed by Engie, EDPR and CDC. It will include four GE 6MW turbines installed on a platform provided by Eiffage and PPI.
Eolmed will be constructed by Quadran, Ideol and Bouygues. The project is located near Gruissan in the Mediterranean Sea and will comprise Senvion 6.2M152 turbines.
Eolfi and CGN, together with cooperation partners DCNS and Vinci, will be constructing the floating offshore wind farm Groix & Belle-Ile off Brittany.
The projects were selected during a tender last year. The developers are expected to file for construction permits next year. Installation works will kick off in 2019 with all floating wind farms set to be up and running by 2020.
