NKT Cables has taken delivery of the cable-laying vessel included in its acquisition of ABB’s high-voltage wire unit.
The vessel, among the world’s most advanced, provides improved cable-laying precision based on so-called DP3 capability and a remotely-operated vehicle using cameras and sonar, NKT said.
It was built at Kleven shipyard in Norway and will be named on 4 May at a ceremony in Karlskrona, Sweden.
The Danish company completed the €836m acquisition of ABB HV Cables last month.
NKT now expects a revenue of about €1.1bn for this year and around €140m in operational EBIDTA.
“This cutting-edge cable-laying vessel will complete our project execution set-up and cements our position as a global, leading cable solutions provider,” NKT chief executive Michael Hedegaard Lyng said.
“Now we can offer our customers turn-key solutions which provides them with increased project flexibility and lower execution risk.”
