A European Union-backed research group has invited offshore wave and tidal energy technology developers to apply for access to a €10.5m assistance program.
The program, known as MaRINET2, is funded by the European Commission and coordinated by the Marine and Renewable Energy Ireland Centre, a collective of universities and industry partners.
Selected participants will gain free-of-charge access to a network of 57 research facilities across Europe. The offer is open to entities in the offshore wind, wave and tidal sectors at the system and component level.
“Over the next four years, MaRINET2 will be an important instrument for reducing the cost of development in Europe’s offshore renewable energy sector,” MaRINET2 project coordinator and University College Cork’s Jimmy Murphy said.
