German turbine manufacturer Enercon has made its E-141 EP4 4.2MW model available for medium wind conditions, which are classed as IIA.
The company said that at wind speeds of 8.5 metres per second the E-141 will generate annual yields of 19.2 million kilowatt hours (kWh) at hub heights of 129 metres.
At sites with speeds of 7.5 metres a second the annual yield will be 16.4 million kWh, Enercon said.
The turbine will also produce annual yields of 13 million kWh at lower wind speeds of about 6.5 metres a second.
Enercon sales manager Stefan Lutkemeyer said: “The new classification will make it easier for our customers to plan at locations with good to very good wind conditions.”
The company is also making the turbine available with different types of tower. The model is available with precast concrete towers with 129-metre, 135-metre and 159-metre hub heights, and on steel towers at 99-metre hub heights.
Enercon has also reclassified its E-126 EP4 4.2MW model on 127-metre hubs heights to high wind class I sites.
