Dong Energy has booked Papenburg-based building contractors Johann Bunte for the expansion of its offshore wind O&M base in Norddeich in the German state of Lower Saxony.
The new building is needed to coordinate the construction of the consented 448MW Borkum Riffgrund 2 project.
Dong expects to spend €5.2m on the new building.
Construction works for an addition to the existing operations centre in Norddeich are slated to start in April, the Danish developer said.
The existing operations centre, inaugurated in April 2015, is 80 metres long and 15 metres wide and includes offices, recreation rooms, a canteen and a warehouse.
The Danish developer uses the existing facility to coordinate construction and operations & maintenance of its 312MW Borkum Riffgrund 1 and 584MW Gode Wind 1&2 wind farm projects.
