Vattenfall has confirmed plans for a 16-turbine extension to the 36.9MW Clashindarroch wind farm in northeastern Scotland.
The Swedish company aims to add 54MW of capacity to the existing 18-turbine facility in Aberdeenshire, which was commissioned 18 months ago.
The proposed wind farm would be one of Vattenfall’s most competitive in the UK, it said.
“The low levelised energy cost we expect on this scheme would make it fighting fit for a new regime that demands low cost generation from wind power,” UK development director for onshore wind Guy Mortimer said.
“It’s early days for Clashindarroch 2, and we still have to get a permit from the Scottish Government, but if we do, we think Clashindarroch II will be among the most competitive in the Vattenfall UK fleet.”
