Hall Construction Services has started work at Banks Renewables 12MW Moor House wind farm near Darlington in the northeast of England.
The £17.5m project will consist of six Senvion MM100 turbines.
Hall Construction Services is the main contractor and is now taking the lead on appointing and managing a number of suppliers to the project.
Contracts worth up to £4.5m are now going out to tender to local firms in relation to different elements of the wind farm’s development, such as construction, security, accommodation and catering.
Up to 30 local contractors will be working on the Moor House site at any given time.
Funding for the project was recently secured by Banks Renewables as part of a transformational £210m investment package that will also support the construction of two further onshore wind farms in Scotland.
Moor House is expected to start generating electricity early in 2018.
Hall Construction Services business development manager Stephen Bromley said: “It is good for our company to be working with the Banks Group again and we look forward to delivering the balance of plant works and acting as principal contractor.”
The Banks Group community relations manager Lewis Stokes said: “We’re very pleased to be extending our relationship with the Hall Construction team – a fellow County Durham-based firm – through this latest onshore wind scheme.”
