The developers of the 900MW Triton Knoll offshore wind farm off the Lincolnshire coast have extended consultancy Land Drainage Services’ contract to provide liaison services between the project and local landowners.
Triton Knoll has consent to install almost 60km of onshore cables, an intermediate electrical compound at Orby and a new substation at Bicker Fen.
During the preparation for construction and into the work itself, the project will need to liaise with more than 120 separate landowners and occupiers, the developers said.
Triton Knoll project director James Cotter said: “Land Drainage Services has demonstrated a real understanding of the project and the importance of putting landowners first, and has forged a positive and trusted reputation with local landowners.
“This is an important role representing the project on the ground, and we feel confident LDS will continue to deliver this to the best of their abilities.”
Land Drainage Services has been working on the project since 2015.
Meanwhile, Royal Haskoning DHV has started two weeks of ecological survey works on parts of the onshore cable corridor.
The work on foot will entail surveying vegetation and wildlife habitats with the results feeding into the environmental assessment of the route.
Triton Knoll onshore consents manager Vicky Portwain said: “These surveys will help us better understand the ecology and habitats of the land and environments along the length of the consented onshore cable corridor.
“The results will complement the information that we already have, and allow us to refine our designs for the installation and management of the onshore electrical system.”
Triton Knoll is being developed as a 50:50 joint venture between Innogy Renewables UK and Statkraft.
