DCNS Energies is to work with the regional council of Brittany to develop commercial-scale tidal and floating wind sites off the French coast.
The developer said it had established a partnership with Brittany council to strengthen their collaboration in marine renewables.
DCNS said Brittany council could use a regional marine renewables fund to be created later this year to help the company identify and develop sites off the Atlantic.
The partners will also seek to develop a local supply chain focused on the port of Brest.
DCNS Energies will next month kick off construction of a tidal turbine factory in Cherbourg.
The site due to be operational in early 2018 will have a production capacity of 25 turbines per year.
