Florida Power & Light Company has selected Blattner Energy and Black & Veatch to each build four solar projects with combined capacity of 596MW.
Blattner Energy will be the EPC contractor for four 74.5MW plants, which are scheduled for completion by the end of this year.
The projects are Coral Farms in Putnam county, Horizon in Alachua and Putnam counties, Indian River in Indian River county and Wildflower in DeSoto county.
Black & Veatch will be the EPC contractor on the other four 74.5MW facilities, which have a target completion date of 1 March 2018.
The plants are Barefoot Bay in Brevard county, Blue Cypress in Indian River county, Hammock in Hendry county and Loggerhead in St Lucie county.
Work is expected to start in the spring, with each of the sites expected to employ about 200 people during peak construction.
FPL president and chief executive Eric Silagy said: “It’s no easy feat to build eight solar plants. We’ve selected project partners who share our commitment to quality, affordability and efficiency.”
