Canadian renewables company Loraxian and Taiwan solar developer SAS Sunrise have agreed to develop 2GW of clean energy projects in south-east Asia over the next 20 years.
The initial focus of the 20-year agreement will be the Philippines, Loraxian said.
The company, based in Ontario, intends to hire more than 50 senior employees to manage the projects as they come online. It anticipates that they will be supported by 150 workers in its new Manila office and other locations in the region.
SAS Sunrise is a unit of Sino-American Silicon Products, a manufacturer of solar wafers, cells and modules.
“I am absolutely thrilled to move forward in partnership with SAS Sunrise,” Loraxian chief executive Roland Kielbasiewicz said.
“As a proven global leader in the renewable industry, coupled with a track record of success in the region, they are the perfect long-term partner for us.”
