TenneT has contracted Chinese cable manufacturer ZTT to supply and install the 155kV HVAC connection between EnBW’s 497MW Hohe See wind farm and the 900MW BorWin3 grid hub in the German North Sea.
ZTT is the general contractor on the project and will deliver the grid connection on a turnkey basis.
The work also includes the supply of shunt reactors, GIS terminal and land conversion joints.
ZTT has already chosen Van Oord to install the cables and Siemens to provide the shunt reactors.
ZTT executive Tom Qu said: “This marks a significant milestone in our entry and technological contribution to the Europe offshore wind industry.”
TenneT executive Wilfried Breuer said: “We are very pleased to award the contract to ZTT as it increases the number of our suppliers for high voltage cables globally.”
