BlackRock has acquired two construction ready wind projects in the UK from developer REG Power Management.
The 13MW Hallburn in Cumbria and 6MW Pen Bryn Oer wind farm in south Wales are expected to start operations by early 2018.
BlackRock acquired 100% of the Renewables Obligation-backed assets through its Renewable Income UK fund, a fund focused on investing on an unlevered basis in wind and solar assets in the UK.
“We continue to see the UK as an attractive market for wind and solar assets where BlackRock invested in 49 projects,” said head of renewable power for Europe at BlackRock Rory O’Connor.
BlackRock has invested in 29 wind projects in the UK representing over 381MW of capacity.
