Low Carbon has awarded the high voltage and civil works for its two battery storage projects in the UK to engineering company g2 Energy.
The company will provide both so-called contestable and balance-of-plant works for the facilities at Cleator in Cumbria and Glassenbury in Kent, it said. Works are scheduled to start on site next month.
The plants, with a combined capacity of 50MW, were among the 201MW selected in National Grid’s first Enhanced Frequency Response service tender.
g2 Energy will also design and build the containers for the projects.
