Turbines manufactured in China dominated new offshore wind installations in 2016, according to data from Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF).
A total of 832MW of new offshore capacity was installed in 2016, of which 636MW was comprised of turbines produced in China.
Sewind topped the list with 489MW, although that includes 388MW of Siemens turbines made under licence in China, BNEF said.
German giant Siemens was ranked second by BNEF with 152MW, followed by China’s Goldwind with 57MW, Envision with 50MW and XEMC with 40MW.
GE came sixth with 30MW, South Korea’s Doosan seventh with 9MW and CSIC next with 5MW.
However, offshore installations in 2016 were down on the 4.2GW installed in 2015, BNEF noted.
