Prysmian has secured a €300m contract from RTE to provide submarine power cables for offshore wind farms in France.
The company will manufacture and install three pairs of HVAC 220kV three-core cables to connect the Fécamp, Calvados and Saint Nazaire wind farms to the mainland power network.
The deal for the Eolien Maritime France projects is the first-ever awarded for an offshore wind link with the French grid, Prysmian said.
Delivery of the cables is expected between 2018 and 2020, with commissioning scheduled between 2019 and 2022.
Prysmian will produce the cables for the land sections in France and the submarine wires in Italy and Finland.
