Engie has started operations at the 10MW Cairnborrow wind farm in Scotland.
The five-turbine project is located 6km north west of Huntly in Aberdeenshire.
The project will provide local communities in the area with either a guaranteed annual payment of £5000 for each megawatt of installed generation capacity or 10% of the profits – whichever is the higher value – as a community benefit fund.
Engie renewables development director Rob Tate said: “We are delighted to announce that Cairnborrow wind farm is now generating clean electricity and helping Scotland meet both its energy needs and its decarbonisation targets.”
