Dong Energy is to charter a wind farm service operation vessel (SOV) from French marine transportation company Louis Dreyfus Armateurs.
The SOV has been designed by Norwegian company Salt Ship Design and will be built by Cemre shipyard in Turkey.
Delivery of the 83-metre vessel is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2018.
Dong will utilise the SOV at the Borkum Riffgrund 1 and 2 and Gode Wind 1 and 2 offshore projects in the German North Sea.
The ship will have capacity for a minimum of 60 technicians, in addition to the crew.
The technicians will be transferred to the projects via a specially designed daughter craft or by a dynamic motion compensated gangway.
