NRG Energy and subsidiary Reliant are to provide renewable electricity to power the 2017 Super Bowl in Houston.
The game will take place at NRG Stadium on 5 February between the New England Patriots and Atlanta Falcons.
The deal with the NFL also includes the provision of clean power to the George R Brown Convention Center, which hosts the NFL Experience and other NFL celebrations in Houston.
NFL environmental program director Jack Groh said: “Using clean energy at our largest events, we can minimize the climate impact of our activities.
“This is something that’s good for business, and good for our fans and the communities where we live.”
