Prysmian has won a deal to supply and install a 220kV onshore cable for ScottishPower Renewables’ 714MW East Anglia 1 wind farm off the east coast of England.
The Italian outfit said it will make a 37km double circuit wire that will deliver power from the landfall at Bawdsey to a substation in Bramford.
Prysmian’s scope of work includes system design, supply, installation and testing of the cables and their accessories.
Installation will be tackled by a 50-strong UK-based team and pre-construction work is due to begin shortly with wires to be laid by September 2018.
Prysmian UK chief executive Llyr Roberts said: “This is a highly significant project for Prysmian and it demonstrates again the breadth of our expertise, both in the manufacture of high voltage cable and in the technical expertise required by the design and installation.”
