Bullfrog Power and Oxford Community Energy Co-operative (OCEC) have announced the successful commissioning of the 18MW Gunn’s Hill wind farm in southwest Ontario.
The project, which is located in Oxford County, is the Canadian province’s first community-owned wind farm and features 10 Senvion MM92 turbines.
It was developed by Prowind Canada and also involves the Six Nations of the Grand River. All four are owners.
Prowind Canada president and former chief executive of OCEC Helmut Schneider said: “Bullfrog Power’s early partnership with the co-operative was an important show of support that contributed to its success.
“Today, the Gunn’s Hill wind farm provides an opportunity for community members to directly benefit from new renewable energy generation in their area.”
