The European Investment Bank (EIB) provided more than £1.25bn to UK renewable energy projects last year, out of total investment of £5.5bn to the country.
The renewables investment included £500m to reinforce electricity transmission in northern Scotland to improve connections to wind, wave and tidal schemes.
A further £525m went to support construction of the 588MW Beatrice offshore wind farm off the Caithness coast of Scotland – the single largest support ever for an offshore wind project by the EIB.
Other energy lending also included support for the 219MW Humber Gateway offshore transmission link, EIB said.
