Offshore Partners Walney Holdco, which has a 24.8% interest in the 367MW Walney offshore wind farm off the coast of northwest England, has restructured its debt facilities to enable access to more favourable interest rates.
The Holdco is a special purpose company owned by PGGM (60%) and Ampere (40%), a renewable energy fund managed by fund manager DIF.
UK engineering consultancy Mott MacDonald provided technical due diligence during the refinancing and will monitor ongoing operations at the wind farm.
Walney, which comprises 102 Siemens turbines and has been operational since 2012, is also owned by Dong Energy (50.1%) and SSE (25.1%).
Mott MacDonald said it acted as lenders’ technical advisor on the scheme for its original financing in 2012 and during the operational phase.
Mott MacDonald project director Nigel Deane said: “Our continuous involvement in the Walney scheme has allowed us to provide effective and timely support to the lenders during all stages of the project.”
EcoGen were commercial and financial manager on the project, Mott MacDonald added.
