The construction of the gravity-base foundations for the 41.5MW Blyth offshore wind demonstration project in England is advancing in Newcastle.
The lower shafts have been placed and the roof panels are about to be mounted, BAM Infra said.
The Royal BAM unit is building the innovative foundations at the Neptune dry dock on the Tyne for EDF. They will feature a hybrid structure comprising a concrete lower section and a steel monopile.
The foundations will support five 8.3MW turbines supplied by MHI Vestas, which are set to be installed later this year.
