Siemens Wind Power has signed a concession agreement with Rebo to use its terminal at the port of Ostend for turbine pre-assembly for the 309MW Rentel offshore wind farm off the Belgium coast.
Rebo said Ostend was chosen because of the “strategic location and easy accessibility of its terminal”.
The supply and pre-assembly of the 42 D7 turbines will start in early 2018 and take about one year, the company said.
Siemens will also use the port from 2019 as the operations and maintenance base for the wind farm.
