Bladt Industries has started prefabrication work on three offshore substations for Dong Energy’s 1.2GW Hornsea 1 offshore wind farm off the UK’s east coast.
Each substation will weigh 2800 tonnes, with the first one to be delivered in 2018, the Danish company said.
Bladt said the electrical work for the substations has been sub-contracted to Semco Maritime.
It is also working on the jacket foundations for SSE’s 588MW Beatrice offshore wind farm at its Lindoe facility.
Bladt is fabricating 30 four-legged jackets for the project, following a contract award from Seaway Heavy Lifting (SHL) – the main contractor for the wind farm.
“The first X-braces and upper A-frames for the jacket foundations have been welded,” the company said.
“Surface treatment will commence shortly, and the upper structures of the jackets are ready to be painted,” it added.
SHL has also contracted Smulders Group to supply 28 jackets and BiFab a further 26 foundations for the project, which will be located in the outer Moray Firth.
