The Asia Wind Energy Association (AsiaWEA) has been launched in Singapore to cover the entire region.
The new lobby group aims to become the leading organisation for the onshore and offshore wind industry in the Asia-Pacific area, it said.
AsiaWEA has been formed by several executives from the local wind energy sector such as Edgare Kerkwijk, the managing director of Asia Green Capital Partners.
“Our mission is to establish and promote wind power as the solution to the region’s rapidly growing energy demand and environmental challenges, providing meaningful benefits to the region as a whole,” Kerkwijk said.
Singapore Economic Development Board executive director for cleantech Goh Chee Kiong added: “We are pleased with the establishment of AsiaWEA in Singapore, which is aligned with our position as the leading clean energy hub in Asia.”
As the first wind energy association covering Asia-Pacific, AsiaWEA will help provide thought leadership and training of talent to serve the fast-growing wind energy market in the region.”
