Iceland’s national power company Landsvirkjun is to supply renewable electricity to Advania’s Fitjar data centre in the southwest of the country.
Delivery of the power will start before the end of the year and will allow the Nordic IT company to expand its data centre operations.
Landsvirkjun generates all its power from renewable resources, including hydro, geothermal and two wind turbines.
Landsvirkjun chief executive Hörður Arnarson said: “The successful growth of Advania and other data centres in Iceland is based on favourable, long-term, secure energy contracts, a competitive environment and the cooperation of stakeholders within industry.”
