Ohio regulators have signed off on RES Americas plan to combine the two-phase Hog Creek wind farms into a single 66.7MW development.
The state Power Siting Board has approved RES’ proposal to install 30 Vestas V110 2.2MW turbines in a 5492-acre project layout in Hardin County.
The developer plans to begin construction before the end of the year to ensure the project qualifies for federal production tax credits, project manager Mason Sorenson told the board.
Foundation excavation is slated to get underway this month and construction is expected to wrap up in late 2017.
The company is negotiating an offtake agreement for the output, said Sorenson.
RES bought the two projects from Juwi Wind in February 2016.
The board initially approved the Hog Creek wind projects in 2010 and 2011. Last year, regulators granted a three-year extension to March 2018 for the start of construction.
