Renewable energy consultancy Dulas is providing detailed design services to ground-mounted solar developments in Ireland totalling 125MW.
The company is expecting that figure to grow by a further 150MW in 2017, despite bottlenecks in the application system, it said.
“Multiple grid applications by developers for new connection offers have overstretched the resource available to process them, while the delay on an announcement regarding a new solar subsidy system has further caused the rate of development to slow,” said Dulas.
Further uncertainty arises from other factors, such as a lack of national planning guidance on ground-mounted solar and excessive planning requirements from some regulators, the consultancy added.
