Massachusetts regulators are looking for an independent evaluator to help develop and run a call for offshore wind power.
The state’s Department of Energy Resources (DOER) has issued a request for quote and responses are due by 9 December.
Massachusetts is required to contract 1.6GW of offshore wind by 2027, with the first competitive solicitation scheduled to be launched in June next year for at least 400MW.
The DOER plans to hire a consultant to ensure the process is open, transparent and competitive.
The evaluator will help design the solicitation documents and monitor the request for proposals (RFP) and selection process.
The department aims to submit the offshore wind RFP for regulatory approval in February and utilities would issue a call by 30 June.
The bid selection process is scheduled to run from 4 December 2017 to 23 February 2018, while contract execution is slated to wrap up by 20 April 2018.
