Vattenfall has signed 24-year leases with the Aberdeen Harbour Board to set up bases to build and maintain the 92.4MW Aberdeen Bay offshore wind farm off the coast of Scotland.
The Swedish company will establish its construction team’s base within the Regent Centre next month and will also move into a warehouse unit at Commercial Quay following a retrofit.
A team of up to 10 will be based at the facilities during the lifetime of the project.
Aberdeen Bay project director Adam Ezzamel said: “Establishing a long-term centre of operations in Aberdeen has been fundamental to our project plans.
“We are pleased to have found a suitable location so near to the wind farm with the support of Aberdeen Harbour Board.”
MHI Vestas Offshore Wind will supply 11 V164-8.4MW turbines to the project and will work with Vattenfall from the O&M base to provide a full service agreement for at least the first five years of operations.
