Orkney marine operations company Green Marine has secured a contract from Andritz Hammerfest Hydro to decommission a tidal turbine foundation at the European Marine Energy Centre.
The Stromness outfit is scheduled to remove the German fabricator’s HS1000 turbine subframe and ballast by April next year.
Green Marine will use its GM700 catamaran gantry barge, Green Isle multicat and Green Chief tug to tackle the job.
The 1MW turbine was installed at EMEC’s berth 1 in 2011 and removed by Green Marine last year.
