GE’s Power Conversion business is helping to upgrade the 1.6GW Mingtan pumped storage hydro plant in Taiwan.
Taiwan Power Company has chosen GE to carry out improvements to two sets of start-up frequency converter control systems, which will boost harmonic levels at the plant.
The upgrade will help to extend the hydro plant’s operational life by 20 years, GE said.
GE added that it will also provide uninterruptible power supply systems and conduct factory acceptance and on-site tests.
