November is a record month for wind energy in Texas and the Plain states, according to the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA).
The main Texas grid operator ERCOT recorded an instantaneous peak wind output of 14.122GW on 17 November up from a previous high of 14.023GW set in February.
AWEA said this is not only a record for ERCOT, but also a new US record for wind for a single system operator.
In the Plain states, north of Texas, the Southwest Power Pool reported a generation record on the same day with instantaneous peak wind output across the plains of 11.305GW, up from the previous record of 10.439GW set in February.
