The US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (Ferc) has issued an environmental assessment for the 400MW Gordon Butte pumped storage hydro project in Montana.
The assessment paves the way for the project to move forward with license issuance, said Absaroka Energy, which is part of the project team.
Absaroka Energy president Carl Borgquist said: “We are pleased that after a thorough review, Ferc has determined that the construction and operation of the facility will result in minimal environmental impact – an outcome which is consistent with our mission.
“Now, with the issuance of the (environmental assessment), we are looking forward to Ferc finishing our license order and giving us the greenlight to build and operate the facility.”
