Boskalis’ order book has risen 8% in the third quarter of the year to €2.9bn, driven by its acquisition of the offshore activities of VolkerWessels.
Revenue and operating profit were also higher than the average seen in the first two quarters thanks to the new units, the Dutch company said.
Boskalis acquired the offshore businesses in July to strengthen its position in the growing offshore wind market.
The company said revenue and operating profits would have been ‘slightly’ lower than in the two previous quarters and ‘substantially’ less than a year ago without the impact of the acquisition.
Market conditions remain difficult both at dredging and for the capacity-driven service-related activities of offshore energy, according to the company.
In contrast, new opportunities are opening up in the offshore wind energy market.
Boskalis has already cut more than 200 of the 650 jobs it plans to shed over the next two years as part of a fleet rationalisation programme announced in July.
Its expectations for the remainder of the year remain unchanged, the company said.
