Pattern Energy has selected general contractor Borea Construction to build the 147.2MW Mont Sainte Marguerite wind farm in Quebec.
The developer expects to receive government approval “imminently” and plans to start construction 1 December.
Borea is holding a job fair for subcontractors, suppliers and construction workers on 10 November.
The Quebec Commission to Protect Agricultural Land has approved the C$275m project, located about 50 miles south of Quebec City.
The municipality of Sacré-Coeur-de-Jesus has joined the partnership already formed by the municipalities of St Sylvester and St Severin and private partners Pattern and RES Canada, which initiated the project.
Mont Sainte Marguerite will feature 46 Siemens SWT-3.2MW-113 direct drive machines. More than 150 landowners spanning 8000 hectares are participating in the wind farm.
The project holds a 25-year power purchase agreement with provincial utility Hydro-Québec.
Pattern expects to start commercial operation in December 2017.
