The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is providing a $70m loan to Green Watts Renewable Energy to help build the 86MW Al Rajef wind farm in southern Jordan.
The $185m project, located in the Ma’an governorate, is the first wind farm developed under round one of Jordan’s renewable energy feed-in-tariff programme, EBRD said.
Al Rajef will also receive loans of $50m from Société de Promotion et de Participation pour la Coopération Economique – the private sector arm of Agence Francaise de Developpement – and $19.4m from the German investment and development corp DEG-Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft.
EBRD director for power and energy Nandita Parshad said: “We are very proud to step up our commitment by financing this wind power plant and we look forward to getting even more deeply involved in Jordan’s energy sector in the near future.”
