NextEra Energy’s earnings were $809m in the third quarter of 2016, up from $730m in the same period last year, bolstered by new investments in wind power.
The company said its NextEra Energy Resources unit added about 600MW of new wind projects and roughly 1.3GW of additional repowering opportunities to its backlog.
“The business remains on track to support delivery of roughly 2500MW of new contracted renewables projects in 2016,” the company said.
NextEra also announced that an agreement has been reached for one of its affiliates to merge with Texas Transmission Holdings Corp, including the latter’s approximately 20% indirect interest in Oncor Electric Delivery Company.
A request for approval of the deal is expected to be filed with the Public Utility Commission of Texas on 1 November.
